Making Our 3' Debut

This past weekend, Lorenzo and I were back in the show ring, ready to redeem ourselves from our first performance at Venice. Yes, we did well, but I was ready to come back and do even better, as we have been wonderful at home. Our lesson on Friday was fantastic so I knew that we would be ready to show what we were made of this time around.

Saturday came around bright and early, yet as every horse person know, horse shows are a lot of sitting and waiting. It was finally our turn in the show ring as the Low Working Hunters began. We did 100 times better than in Venice. Yes, we had a few issues with one fence. Lorenzo got my number and took advantage of my lack of thinking/riding. But overall, we were so much better and I couldn't have been happier.

On Sunday, we were planning on going back in for the Lows again, but the ring was moving unbelievable slow. The division was originally going to run at 11, then 2, then 4. So.. the Child/Adult 3' was in the ring, and we decided to make our debut. We jump 3' at home, so the fences weren't any bigger than I am used to, but this was a huge deal, as I haven't shown that big in years.  I could not have asked him to be any better. We still had some problems with that one jump in the first two classes, but our last round, we ended up fifth and the fact that I placed my first time in the Adults, I was ecstatic. Lorenzo was fantastic and so much fun over the big jumps. I think we were both having fun and just more together and everything just felt good.

I am so happy that I had the chance to do that and there is no going back now. No more baby jumps for me. I know what I need to work on and keep improving. But I was able to prove that I can do it an that's what counts. I love this horse and can't wait to see what we can do in the next months.
