"We Found Love Right Where We Are"

Last week Joe and I took off for a few days and jetted off to Alexandria, VA. Not only just for a few days vacation, but for Eric and Rebecca's wedding :) :) :)

The first of our group from PHS was finally getting married. We all knew that he would be the first to tie the knot and I was thrilled to be a part of his big day. Joy and I were Eric's groomswomen, and in addition to Chad and Rebecca's brother, that was his side of the bridal party. We had a blast and I couldn't be more happy for the two of them.

We landed on Saturday afternoon and after Eric and Rebecca grabbed us from the airport, Joe and I took off for downtown Alexandria. It was the cutest downtown area with tons of bars and restaurants and little boutiques. After we walked around for a while, we mt up with Eric and his family for dinner at an Italian/Mediterranean restaurant, then walked down to the wharf.

Rehearsal dinner
On Sunday, I was super excited because I was reunited with Joy. Even though it had only been a few weeks, it is always good to see her again. The four of us went to the park around Mount Vernon for the morning and then had lunch at a dive bar/Mexican restaurant. It was then time for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner. Unfortunately, the wedding coordinator never showed, so the rehearsal was a bit unorganized, but ended up all right in the end. Dinner was fun at an Irish pub downtown. Afterwards, a group of is went to play TopGolf. It's basically a driving range, where you hit the ball into marks to get points. Let's just say the boys and Brittany did amazing, and Joy and I failed miserably. Like flashbacks to gym class in high school miserable.

Clearly, we were intently talking about something :)
Monday was wedding day! Joe, Joy, Ilya and I spent the morning touring Mount Vernon which was surprisingly huge. The grounds were so pretty and the house itself was interesting to see. There is so much history and even though I am not a history buff, it was cool to see all of it. After a quick lunch, we went back to the hotel so Joy and I could go with Rebecca to the Mount Vernon Inn, where the ceremony and reception would take place. Even though we were groomswomen, we were getting ready with the girls so we could enjoy the day with Rebecca as well. Before the ceremony, Joy and I gave Eric a box of letters and photos we had collected as a wedding gift. Lo and behold, we had him crying before the ceremony even started, and yes once he started, I started.
The best looking groomswomen ever
The wedding was perfect. It was super small, only family and the bridal party (plus significant others) but it was suited to them. I was so honored to be a part of their day and so happy to see the first of my group of friends from high school get married. Now that Eric has gotten the ball rolling, it's only a matter of time before it's wedding bells for everyone else. After photos and cocktails, it was time to dance the night away. Thankfully the rain held off as the dance floor was outside and the night couldn't have been nicer.

After a long weekend with friends, it was time to head back to sunny Florida. Before heading to the airport, the four of us went to 'The Beach' exhibit at The National Building Museum. I had never even heard of the museum before and it was very cool to see all the big buildings and how they were designed. The exhibit was a very large ball pit and we all got to act like kids again. Joy and Ilya dropped Joe and I at the airport and we then took an uber to the National Zoo to see the pandas before our flight. It was well-worth the quick trip.

It was the perfect weekend getaway with a gorgeous wedding, best friends and experiencing new things with the best guy I could ask for.
