The Undefeatable George Bailey

I know, I know. Once again, it's been a while. What can I say? I'm a busy person and a lazy person haha. Last week I was able to head home again for a few days now that polo is over in Wellington for the summer. It was a much-needed trip as George Bailey had been sick the week before.

About two weeks ago now, Mandi called me and said that the vet was on her way out because she thought George was colicing. Ok, I didn't panic too much at first as he has a bit of a history with colic as the weather changes. About four hours later, she calls again and says she's taking him to the clinic. That is where I began to panic. It is hard enough to know that your best friend is hurting when you are around and can take care of them, let alone 1800 miles away.

Thankfully, mom was to the rescue, as always, and met Mandi and Pudge at MidAtlantic. After two nights at the clinic, he was pronounced healthy as a horse. The vets never found any sign of colic, just dehydration, so he must have untwisted whatever it was himself.

I spent three out of the four mornings I was home out at the barn with my boy giving him all my attention. I don't know what I would do without him. He looks great and acts as if nothing was ever wrong. I understand that he is 26 and getting older, but I will never accept the fact that something will happen to him. George Bailey Delin, according to the vet,  will live forever.

The rest of my trip home was good as well. I was able to surprise Holly and see her get ready and dressed for her senior prom. It is hard to believe that my "little sister" is graduating, actually has graduated, from high school. In a few months she will be off to Univ. of Maryland.

Another one that is growing up, is Benjamin. He is one month away from his license, which is still a scary thought. And he is heading to three weeks at sea next week. Hopefully, this summer, he actually stays at camp, it will be hard to pick him up in the middle of the ocean. He is doing a three-week marine biology course with 8 other kids on a boat where they visit three or four islands. I am super jealous and would love to go with him.

I was also able to see Katie and Joy while I was home, which was always a good thing. I love my best friends and always love seeing them. It sucks not being close enough to see them all the time, but when we are together, it seems as if no time has passed.

It was a good trip and a great way to start the summer. Now, it's time to ramp up and get ready for the summer polo season and some horse showing! Get ready to see Lorenzo and I make our show debut!
