All Dogs Go to Heaven

Remember that Disney movie from the 90's, "All Dogs go to Heaven"? Well, I hope it's true. In my last post I wrote that Emily had just found out that Tucker had cancer and only had a few weeks left. Unfortunately, he deteriorated a lot faster than either one of us would have thought.

With a lot of careful consideration, Emily took him to the vet Monday night and had him put down. It is the saddest thing in the world and still hard to imagine, but now he doesn't hurt anymore. You could just tell he wasn't himself chasing shadows around the apartment and eating everything in sight. Instead, he would barely come out of his crate. I can only imagine what Emily felt upon making that decision, but Tuck became my dog in a way over the past year and it sucks to have had him hurting. I know he's in a better place now.

I do not want to go through that again, even though it was indirect. I've never really thought about how prone Goldens are to cancer until this happened with Tucker and it makes me love my monsters all that much more. I wish I could see them more (or cough, cough, send Bruno to Florida) but I'm happy with the time I do see them. Plus, now I have Triton to entertain my want for puppy cuddles.
