Summer in the Rockies

I know, I know, it's been a while. I needed the push to start writing again and Joe told me I needed to sit down and do it. Writing is something I love to do, one of the things that keeps me sane and focused and blogging has been a way to keep everyone connected and a part of my life for the past few years. I just get caught up in the grind of daily life, but he gave me that push to sit down and get back to it. So here, it goes.

The last few weeks I have been in Colorado with ChukkerTV. Ally and I drove from Florida and let me tell you it was the longest drive ever. People say that cross-country road trips are fun, I have no idea who those people are. We had fun making a few stops in the major cities: Atlanta, Nashville, St. Louis and Denver, but that was for food and hotels. Kansas is the longest state in the world. It never ends and has nothing to look at except for windmills and gas pumps. I thought we were never going to leave Kansas since it took us literally an entire day to drive through that awful state. If anyone has ideas on how to make the trip back to FL any better, please let me know.
This was all I say for six hours
That being said, we've been here for about three weeks now- the longest three weeks ever. Yes, I'm having a good time, but It's hard being away for this long and knowing you still have weeks to go until you go home again. Ally and I have our own apartment in Glenwood Springs which is super cute. We are only 20 min from the Aspen Valley Polo Club, forty from the other fields and about five minutes from a little downtown area. We have the perfect spot to be near everything, except Aspen, which is a little over an hour.

Since we've been here, our work schedule has been pretty flexible with polo lessons on Tuesdays (yes, I'm learning to ride a polo pony), practices/interviews on Wednesday/Thursday, games on Friday/Sunday, interviews on Saturday and off on Mondays. On Saturday afternoon's Ally and I have been trying to check out some hikes and trails around Aspen, one of which was hard and the last was easy. The first was Hanging Lake which was a mile hike up the mountain to a gorgeous lake/waterfall. It was really hard but totally worth it. This past weekend we did the Grottos, which was just a simple trail that took you to an ice cave and a waterfall. It was an easier hike than we were expecting, but we were able to sunbathe at the top of the waterfall, so it ended up being just the relaxing afternoon we needed.

The hot springs are also in Glenwood, which we was pretty cool. It is all mineral water, with two different pools, one which is cool and then then other at 104 degrees. It's something I would like to do again, but not on a hot day like it has been. 104 degree pool in 80 degree heat going back to no A/C is not my cup of tea.

Besides work and keeping busy, classes are keeping me busy too. I have about three more weeks left and I can't be happier to be done. Few more weeks and I'll be a Master of Mass Communications. The last few years of classes will have paid off and more than that, I'll have a few days at home in Florida.

Speaking of, Joe is moving in :) He signed the lease and he will be moving in when I get home in August. Emily will still be living with us during season, but during the year, it's me Joe and Triton. I am so excited and can't wait to get home and start organizing and making the apartment ours.
