Learning New Things Each Day
Each week here in Colorado, nothing really changes- the schedule is always the same and it's basically the same people riding. Last week Ally went home for her sister's wedding so I was by myself, which was fine. I got my work done for class since I only have one more week left :) And I went up the Doc Holliday Trail (even though I'm still not quite sure who he is). It was the easiest trail so far, taking me a half hour total. At the top was a great view of Glenwood and a really odd memorial that stated "somewhere in this vicinity, Doc Holliday is buried." Like I said, odd. It was a nice walk though and something I felt comfortable doing myself. Plus I attempted to learn a little bit of history.
At polo this week, the club did something a little different. Instead of having the pros play arena polo, the Tibetan Monks came out to Aspen Valley Polo Club and they joined us for arena polo. The monks first learned to play foot polo on the ground which then Ally and I played all night.
The main feature of the evening was them actually getting on the horses for the first time and going right into a game. The majority of them had never been on a horse and for the first time, they were all very good. They took to the game right away, scoring goals left and right. It was a fun night and something different than watching the same pros every week.
As mentioned, Ally is back and brought her mom back with her for the week, so we have been doing a little bit of sightseeing. We had lunch in Aspen the other day and last night went to Iron Mountain Hot Springs which was really nice. It's a different one than we went to last time and I think this one is s little nicer. There are sixteen mini pools that differ in temperature from 102-106 degrees and they actually place the minerals in the water so it felt like a spring and I immediately felt a difference in my skin and felt relaxed after ten minutes in the water. We might be making a repeat trip before we drive back to Florida.
I'm counting down and in the final stretch of classes. I get to head back to Wellington in a few days which I am overly excited about. I can't wait to see Joe, since this has been way too long. It's only a week at home, and he'll be working but I'll get stuff done during the day and then we have a few days together. I'll get to see him and Triton and head to the barn for a few hours and Emily is coming to town and then we head to Gainsville for graduation. Holy crap, it's finally here. In a little over a week I'll be done with school forever and graduated with my master. I've learned tons over the last two years and I've been able to apply it every day and can't wait to start doing more with my degree. One week, One week :)
