Getting Life Figured Out
It's been a very busy few weeks with lots going on and lots to catch up on. First off, I finally have a place to live. A week ago now I decided, along with mom's input, that I wasn't going to wait any longer to see what was happening with Bubby's apartment. All of the mold and repairs were going to take forever, so it was easier to find somewhere else to live. The most logical answer- move back in with Kendall and Chris. Their roommate was moving out, so it was perfect timing and I got to move back in where my journey in Florida began and live with my best friend again.
I'm finally getting all settled in my room, not my old room, Emily's old room. But it still feels like I'm home again. I have one more trek from Delray to get the rest of my stuff, or what I need right now, but for the most part, I am finally living in one spot.
Just after I moved in, or started to move in, we got hit with Hurricane Irma. We got super lucky in Wellington, as it only hit as a Cat 1 or 2 I think, opposed to the Cat 5 we were supposed to get. Yes, I was freaking out, but everyone up north was freaking out more. I tried to get home, but there were no flights as everyone was evacuating, and no way I could drive as there was no gas in the state- and still isn't.
All of the panicking phone calls and texts were not helpful leading up to the storm, but I kept my calm, for the most part, and had very supportive friends down here that helped keep my cool. Like I said, Wellington got very lucky as we didn't get hit nearly as hard as the news was expecting. We had lots of wind and some rain, but no damage to the house. There was a tree that just missed the house and we lost power for about 24 hours. Other than that, we were very fortunate.
Now that everything is settling down, fall season is just around the corner. Everyone is slowly making their way back to Florida, whether from being gone all summer or evacuating from the storm. Grand Champions polo will be up and running before I know it.
