Getting Used to This Crazy Florida Weather
I knew when I decided to move to The Sunshine State that not every day would be filled with sunny skies and beach weather. I have been mentally preparing myself for Hurricane season, as any of my friends can attest that I hate, thunderstorms. That being said, it might be a very long summer. I was not prepared, however, for the daily deluge of torrential rain.
For the past week and a half, it has rained every day. And when I say rain, I don't mean a drizzle where you can go ride and still be ok. I mean flooding rain where we loose power. I am not ok with this. Not in the slightest. I am fine with the rainy weather and am learning to accept the fact that the weather is unpredictable and not to trust the weatherman. That being said, why do none of the barns down here have covered arenas? If it continues to rain every day and the rings continue to turn into lakes, Dixie might become a nice lawn ornament. Oh well, that's what I get for moving south right?
Besides the bad weather, the past week hasn't been too busy. We celebrated Joe's 24th birthday last weekend, with a relatively quiet weekend. Lots of netflix and Orange is the New Black :) We had (what is becoming traditional) dinner at hibachi with his family and then had cake back at his house. His grandma bought him the Fudgie the Whale ice cream cake, which is filled with the crunchie things. Joe has been talking about that cake since I met him, so I finally found out what it was, and now I know what the fuss is about. It's pretty good and highly recommended.
This weekend, Joe is off to New Orleons for a bachelor party, but on the way, stopped in Sanford at a corgi/Aussie breeder. As a belated birthday present to himself, Joe bought an Aussie and she is adorable. I cannot wait till he brings her home and I am going to spoil her rotten. He is so excited and I can't be happier for him.
This weekend, I am finally horse showing. Dixie and I will be debuting at the Citrus series and after a few days off, I am crossing my fingers that she behaves. Wish us luck :)
