Nothing Quite Like Home
The past few weeks have been non-stop with work and riding, so a break was just what I needed.
Thursday night I headed back to PA for a few days of no work, just play. :) A few days of being with family, friends and four-legged creatures was just what I needed. After a few mini meltdowns, the weekend getaway came at the perfect time- at the end of the busy summer, so I could re-boost for the remainder.
Bright and early Friday morning (thanks to my 6 am furry alarm clocks) I had breakfast with Kelsey and Holly. I haven't seen Holly since Christmas, so it was great to see her and catch up. Kelsey just passed her Boards and is now an official nurse. My two 'little sisters' are growing up. Of course we ate at Hampton Junction, where even though they have the best pancakes ever, they have the slowest service in the world.
Then I went to see Georgie Porgie!!!! I missed him soooooo much. (If you can't tell, there will be mass amounts of photos to show you) Recently, we found out that his Lymes came back, so I have been a bit worried about him, since I can't do anything to help him from Florida. Thankfully, he looked really good and seemed to be feeling fine. He was eating and perked right up when he heard me walking down the aisle. He is a little slow to bend down for hay and grass, but other than that, he looks like himself. That makes me feel better and hopefully the rest of the meds will kick in.
Friday afternoon, I hung out with Bubby. (We went shopping of course) Started to work on revamping my closet, which is in much-need of some help. Then we had Chinese for dinner, so I was working on hitting up all of the good spots for food while I was home.
Friday Night, Katie, Joy and I went out to Bethlehem and ended up at Corked. It was a very nice wine bar and we kept wondering if it was too fancy for us, but we ended up getting a drink, hanging out, and having a good night catching up.
On Saturday, after another early morning wake up, I went back to see George. He was out in the field, so I visited him outside and got to see him out of his stall. He does look good and was having some trouble bending down for grass, but didn't seem uncomfortable at all. He certainly chased away his buddies in order to get his treats, so he's feeling well enough:) It's always hard leaving him, especially now that he's getting older and not in the best shape. But I know that he is being taken care of and like I tell everyone, George is going to live forever.
The girls and I spent the afternoon lounging by Bubby's pool. None of us went in the pool, but we just hung out around it, sometimes putting our toes in. I didn't have as much time with Joy and Katie as I would have liked, but at least I got to see them for a bit while I was home. That's what happens on the quick trips home.
Mom, Dad and Benjamin got home from the beach in the afternoon, so I finally got to see them. I did fly all the way home after all. We went to Grille 3501 for dinner, yummm, and then just had a lazy night at home. I didn't realize how homesick I was until I got home, and how much I needed the few days back in Allentown. I needed to see my dogs, my horse and my family and just get away. Even if it was a quick back and forth. I love being in Florida, but there is nothing quite like being at home.
Sunday, Dad and I went to have breakfast with Grandma and Grandpa (I had to make sure I got everyone in this trip) We just had bagels at the house, but it was nice to see them. That's another hard thing, being away and them getting older. As much as I'll complain about driving to see them, I'll complain even more when I can't.
A quick run with the dogs in the park and then Matt (like I said, I saw everyone this trip) drove me to the airport. It was a very quick, and at times rushed, trip, but well-worth it. Now, it's back to work, another horse show, and next week, back to school. I can not believe I am going back to school. In three year's time, you can call me, Master Ari :)
