We Are The Champions

All the hard work that Dixie and I have been putting in over the past few weeks has definitely paid off. In the form of ribbons, lots of ribbons.

The Wellington Summer Festival took place over the weekend and Dixie and I were rock stars. After schooling in and our of the ring on Thursday and Friday, we were finally ready to shine. We competed in the Low Adults, so even though the jumps were small, we are still going for the experience and trying to get out feet wet in the show ring.

Day 1: We impressed the judges in our first class, gaining a first place ribbon. (yes, my journalism voice is coming out) In the second class, we earned a red ribbon with an equally impressive round. Finishing off the first day of classed, was the hack, where we placed third. With three top placings, we were ready to tackle the second day of competition. After a mix-up in the warm-up (a minor brain freeze on my part) we earned another second place ribbon in the first round and came back to wow the judges for a blue ribbon in the last class of the division.

All in all, Dixie and I were the Reserve Champions :) She was such a good girl and so much better behaved than last time. Riding is all about learning. Each day brings something new and each time you step into the ring, it is the chance to learn something. Yes, we made a few mistakes this show, but we made new mistakes. We improved on our last ones and learned from them. I was so proud of us and am very happy with what we have accomplished. I think that Susan was too. Like I said, Dixie was a rock star.

Dixie got to do a Leadline class for Kids for Cancer

As far as the rest of life....

Orientation for school is next week so I am preparing to get back in school mode. It will be weird taking classes again. It's been a few years, so getting back in the groove might take a while. But I have my books, most of the programs, one out of two computers, and am 90% prepared. :)

Noah has moved to the Big Apple and has left my parents back at home with Benjamin and the monsters. With Ben back at school in a few months, it will just be the pooches at home.

Pudge has had a rough two weeks. He has a nerve or something in his neck again which is giving him some problems. He is still being his normal self, just moving a little slow. I am hoping to get some good news when the blood work comes back and am very happy that I'll be seeing him next week. Timing could not be more perfect.
