Here is to Best Year Yet
As much as I love living in Florida, I love being able to go
home to Pennsylvania for a few days and see my family even more. Last week I
flew home to spend some time seeing everyone and enjoying the last few days of
Hanukkah with my brothers and parents. Even though I had the entire week at home,
much more time than I usually do, I still spent the majority of it running
around and trying to fit everything and everyone in.
First stop- Hanukkah with the cousins at Aunt Lisa’s house.
It was the normal family gathering but during Hanukkah it gets a bit crazier.
Since all of us are older, we do a Chinese gift exchange where you can keep the
gift you get or steal from someone else. Needless to say, it gets a little
insane. Best gift of the night went to Kenny, who got a bottle of wine and a
mini BAC test.
On Sunday, I finally got to see Bethany after over a year!
It’s crazy to think that you can go from seeing someone almost every day to not
at all and then it seems as if no time has passed when you meet up again. We
drove to Bound Brook, NJ and met up with Cat, Sarah and Katie (also none of
whom I had seen in a while) and spent the day catching up and eating junk food.
Hopefully it won’t be another year till we all catch up again, but that’s what
happens when all of us are spread out over the country.
After a few days at home it was time to head to the Poconos
and see the Pudge. He was just as excited to see me as I was to see him. A
quick groom and some treats in his system, he also ran and bucked around the
indoor ring showing off how excited he was. Of course I visited George a few
more times over the course of the week and each time he was just as excited. He
looks really good and I am happy to report that his neck looks great and he
seems to feel really good and not in pain or sore at all J
For Christmas, mom, Bubby and I joined Joy and her mom and
sister at the movies to see Into the Woods. I thought it was very well-done,
but then again I haven’t seen the play so don’t have anything to compare it to.
Meryl Streep was amazing and will definitely be nominated for some award. After
the movies, we met the boys at Hunan Springs for the traditional Chinese food
dinner.
The rest of the week was mainly hanging out with the pooches
and at home with mom and dad. I saw Joy and Katie a bit and just had a nice
time being at home and getting away from Wellington for a bit.
Big thing about being at home: I know I have mentioned that
Benjamin got his permit, but actually seeing him drive was insane. Freaked me
out and now I know that I am getting old.
Now it is back to sunny Florida (with Bubby in tow). I
convinced her to come back with me so she is down here for the next week,
taking in the sunshine and seeing some friends. It is hard to believe that it
is already Dec. 31. This year had flown by and it definitely had its ups and
down.
