Mini Getaways Make Everything Better
Last week was one of the longest weeks, just because there was so much going on. Work was filled with ongoing projects and after a draining few days, it was off to Orlando.
My parents and Benjamin flew down for a few days to spend some time in the sunshine. On Friday, Joe and I drove to meet them at Universal Studios, where we spent the weekend. I was so excited to see them. I miss them so much and it was great to see them and made me very happy. I do get homesick so it was nice to see friendly faces.
On Saturday, we had an early start with breakfast at the Three Broomsticks at Harry Potter World. We had a wonderful English breakfast and then off to the park and into the wizarding world of Harry Potter. First stop- Olivanders. Benjamin wanted a wand, and of course he wasn't one of the kids to get picked for a wand, so he ended up just buying one haha. Next, we made our way through the park, stopping for a Butter Beer or two. Then we traveled through the Islands of Adventure, stopping at Dr. Seuss Land and the Lost Continent among others.
Saturday night, we had dinner at Emeril's Tchop Chop at the hotel and then went to see Blue Man Group. The show was really good. My dad had gotten us seats in the fourth row, so we were given ponchos to wear. Therefore, I was expceting lots of paint being thown and getting messy. Nope, not a single drop on us. But the performance was still very good and amusing.
Sunday was the perfect end to a weekend getaway. We spent the day at Universal Studios. I think the best ride of the day was the Minion Ride :) I got turned into a minion so I was pretty happy. The rest of the rides were fun, but I forgot how sick I get on the motion ones. Not a fan :( Then Joe and I started our drive home.
But it was a good mini getaway. I was happy to see my family and have some time to relax and not think about work. For updates on this week, check back in a few days.
