I don't want to grow up...

Happy Birthday to me!!!

I am officially 24 and what better way to spend my birthday than in the sun with ponies.

Yesterday I finally went to the beach. It was a picture perfect beach day, no clouds, breeze, sun and 80 degrees. A few hours of soaking up the sun and people watching was just the thing to do with my day off. I definitely think I am going to be making a habit of getting to the beach as often as possible on my days off, considering it's ten minutes away.

The FTI Charity Challenge was happening at the horse show, so of course that's where I ended up. I can't stay away from the show even on my days off. It was interesting. 34 teams of three. 1.10m, 1.20m and 1.30m jumped one after the other. The team with the fastest time won the prize for their charity. The Saturday Night Lights are set up so that the community gets involved, not just the equestrian community. So in addition to the jumping class, there was a mini carnival outside the main entrance. Lots going on for kids and it had a very fun atmosphere.

Today was a very good birthday. I rode for the first time since Ive been down in Florida and it felt so good to be back on a horse. I went and rode Umber, Cathy Sacher's horse, a family friend. He is one of the most comfortable horses I have ever been on. I probably only hacked him for about 20 minutes, but I am planning on going again in the next week and it just felt good to be back in the saddle.

We also went to a polo match. First time, so I did not know what to expect, but it was really cool. We sat in the general admission, so not in the grandstands, but you could still see what was going on. And Nic Roldon was playing. A major plus. All in all, it was a pretty good day :)
